  1. The jackal is a carniverous MAMMAL, related
  2. to the DOG and WOLF and similar in size and
  3. behaviour to the COYOTE. They are found in 
  4. Africa and South Asia, where they inhabit 
  5. deserts, grasslands and brush country. They
  6. feed at night and spend the day in holes or
  7. hidden in grass or brush.
